Announcing the launch of our Teaching for Black Lives Community of Practice

Parents, youth leaders, educators, school leaders, and others who care about education as the practice of freedom, join us! 313Reads, Detroit Parent Network, the National Parents Union, and Birdie's Bookmobile are launching this community of practice, supported by the Zinn Education Group.

Call to Action

Join our Teaching for Black Lives Community of Practice. We’ll use the book as the starting point to create brave spaces to explore and learn together about how anti-racist teaching can help reimagine learning in the classroom and community. We’ll center dialogue, equity of voice, and collective impact. YOUR VOICE MATTERS!

This book of short essays provides resources and examples of how school and community can connect to young people’s lives and create experiences that center youth identities, experiences, and voices. They highlight the hope and beauty of activism and collective action.

Monthly Dinner & Community of practice, April - August 2024 These dinners will take place on the last Thursday each month, with a meal provided by DPN at 5:30pm, and a community conversation from 6:00-7:00pm. These meetings will take place at the Detroit Parent Network, 726 Lothrop, Detroit. There will be children’s activities during the Community Convo, and free culturally sustaining children’s books provided by Birdie’s Bookmobile.
